Fontana Pools Open May 28

Fontana, California, May 17, 2011 – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to enjoy Fontana’s pools, which open for summer starting May 28 through September 5.

On May 28, Fontana’s Neighborhood pool sites open for summer at the Heritage Neighborhood Center, located at 7350 W. Liberty Parkway, and the Miller Fitness Center, located at 17004 Arrow Boulevard. The Fontana Park Aquatic Center pool is open year round and offers expanded hours and programs during the summer.

The opening of the Don Day Pool, located at 14501 Live Oak Avenue, will be delayed two-weeks due to unforeseen repairs and upgrades. The pool shall open on Saturday, June 11 and resume programming as scheduled.

Hours for neighborhood pools are 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday before August 8, 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday after August 8. Weekend hours are Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Night Swim is 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. On May 30, Memorial Day hours will be from Noon to 5 p.m.

Pool entry fees for ages 2–17 are $1.50, ages 18 and up $3.00, and ages 55 and up $1.50. Children under 2-years-old are free. Adults must accompany children under age 7 one-on-one in the water at all times.

Season Passes are also available for $50 for individuals and $160 for families of four, with a fee of $40 for additional members. Season Passes are valid Memorial Day through Labor Day for entrance to Don Day, Heritage and Miller Pools.

Summer hours for the Fontana Park Aquatic Center are Noon to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, Noon to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Summer hours run May 28 through September 4. Holiday hours on Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day are Noon to 5 p.m.

General admission to the Aquatic Center with waterslide access is $7 for adults, $5 for children and $5 for seniors, admission to the Center without waterslide access is $5 for adults, $3 for children and $3 for seniors. Monthly passes are also available for $35.

As a reminder, flotation devices are not allowed in City pools and proper swimwear is required to enter the water.
