FONTANA: Pounds Away at Obesity with Weight of the Nation Screening

Fontana, California – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to a screening of The Weight of the Nation-Part 4 on Wednesday, July 18th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium, located at 8437 Sierra Ave.

The City of Fontana along with Healthy Fontana has partnered with Kaiser Permanente to bring this motivational documentary to the community. Additionally, prizes will be given to all in attendance, while supplies last.

To bring The Weight of the Nation campaign to a broad audience, Kaiser Permanente has partnered with HBO, the Institute of Medicine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health, and the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.

The Weight of the Nation is a four-part documentary series, with each part featuring case studies, interviews with experts, and stories from individuals and families struggling with obesity. The documentary examines the scope of the obesity epidemic and explores the serious health consequences of being overweight or obese, reveals the science behind weight loss and gain, documents the damage obesity is doing to the nation’s children and assesses the major driving forces causing the obesity epidemic.

Healthy Fontana encourages residents to attend the screening of the documentary and a two-panel discussion afterward to find out how we can all work together to end the obesity epidemic. “Obesity is a nationwide epidemic and this documentary is opening the eyes of America to the serious health consequences of obesity,” said Fontana Mayor, Acquanetta Warren. “Please come join me to empower yourself with the information needed to change your life today.”
