FONTANA: Summer Is Here And So Are The Fontana Summer Events

Get Your Shades Ready, Fontana’s Summer is Looking Bright

Fontana, California, May 17, 2012 – The Mayor and City Council invite the public to participate in Fontana’s summer events, offered weekly from June 1st to August 2nd at various locations throughout the City. Summer is an exciting time in the City of Fontana with a wide range of fun, family friendly activities for residents to experience and enjoy. Summer events include Sunset Concerts, Family Fun Nights, Friday Night Pool Parties, Dive-in Movies, a poolside concert and the Fontana Arts Festival.

 
The Sunset Concert Series starts June 7th and occurs every Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Miller Park, 17004 Arrow Blvd. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite blanket or lawn chair, pick a spot on the cool green grass and relax to the music or get up and dance! The series features various types of music such as R&B, dance, Latin, oldies, rock, jazz and blues.

 
Family Fun Nights themed “Fontana’s Summer Olympics” are free weekly events that take place at a different park every Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. beginning June 12th. Family members of all ages should come prepared to enjoy an evening full of activities, crafts, games and a family friendly movie at dusk!

 
Dive-in and relax on Friday nights with a movie and party at the pool! Every Friday night at 7 p.m. beginning June 1st, visit Heritage Pool for a themed party. Each week dress up according to the theme and enjoy a swim in the pool plus games and activities. Movies run every other week starting June 15th. Regular swim fees apply.

 
Ride the wave of music in a free poolside concert featuring the Nocturnes on Saturday, June 30th at 7 p.m.! This poolside concert will also include carnival games, prizes, giveaways and art activities. The pool, slide and water play area will be open and available for use during the concert though regular swim fees apply.

 
The Fontana Arts Festival will take place at Fontana Park, 15556 Summit Ave. on Saturday, July 28th from 5-9 p.m. This family friendly event is free and will highlight the performing and visual arts with unique performance showcases and inspiring hands-on activities. Event attendees will be treated to live music, art projects, artist demonstrations, dance exhibits and art workshops for kids and adults. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

 
In addition to these fun-filled summer events, residents can also cool off at one of Fontana’s four pools starting Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 26th. Enjoy recreational swim, swim lessons and lap swimming all summer long! Don Day, Heritage and Miller pools will be open for recreational swim Monday through Friday, from 1 – 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 5 p.m. Evening swim hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 7 – 9 p.m. The Fontana Park Aquatic Center is open year-round with an expanded schedule in the summer. Monday through Friday, the Aquatic Center is open from 12-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 12-5 p.m. and evening hours from 7-9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
