Fontana’s Veterans Day Celebration – Nov. 11th

Fontana, Calif. – The City of Fontana in partnership with local veteran groups will honor our active and non-active military men and women at the Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 11th at the Fontana Memorial Rose Garden, adjacent to the Art Depot Gallery, 16822 Spring Street at 11 a.m.

Join the City of Fontana and veteran groups throughout Fontana as we celebrate those who have and are still fighting for our freedom at the Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 11, 2016. The community will come together to enjoy all the festivities taking place at the Fontana Memorial Rose Garden. The event will include guest speakers, performances by local high school bands and their Jr ROTC programs. In addition, the top three student winners of the Annual Dr. Charles Koheler’s Writing Contest and the Art Contest will share their entries. Participating students ages 18 were asked to submit an essay describing “What Does Veterans Day mean to you?” as part of the writing contest. The selected students will read their essay during the Annual Veterans Day event. This year an art contest was also added asking children ages eight and under to submit an illustration of a veteran. The top three winners will be recognized at the event and have the opportunity to showcase their patriotic artwork. The students will receive gift cards and be recognized by the Mayor at an upcoming City Council Meeting. Their writing entries will also be published in the Fontana Herald Newspaper.

The American Legion Post 772 will host a free luncheon for everyone in attendance immediately following the event.
