City of Riverside Seeking Applicants for Board of Ethics
Applications are due on or before May 1
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The City of Riverside invites registered voters to apply for appointment to the Board of Ethics. The Board includes at least one representative from each of the seven City Council wards and two at-large seats from around Riverside for staggered terms of four years.
The City Council recently adopted a new Code of Ethics and Conduct for the Mayor, City Council, and members of boards and commissions. The nine-member Board of Ethics will hear complaints of alleged violations of the Code and annually review the Code for its overall effectiveness for recommendation to the City Council.

College Students to Discover Downtown Riverside in Race for Scholarships
The Amazing College Race: Riverside Edition! returns April 10
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Amazing College Race: Riverside Edition! returns April 10, offering students from the city’s four colleges and universities the chance to compete in a scavenger hunt for scholarship money while experiencing some of downtown Riverside’s top attractions.
“With 50,000 students on four campuses, Riverside is a college town, and this event helps bring them together to learn more about the city that I hope they will be proud to call home,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said. “We want our students to see first-hand the arts, entertainment and cultural amenities available in our downtown, while also building peer networks and job prospects that will help keep them here even after they graduate.”
The Amazing College Race was developed as a partnership between the City of Riverside and the Mayor’s College Forum, formerly known as the College Council of Riverside. The Mayor’s College Forum represents students from California Baptist University, La Sierra University, Riverside City College and the University of California, Riverside.
The Amazing College Race: Riverside Edition! begins at 9 a.m. on April 10 on the Main Street pedestrian mall outside of City Hall, 3900 Main Street, and is scheduled to end at the same location at 1 p.m.
Teams solve clues that lead them to key locations in downtown Riverside where they earn points. The team with the most points within a 90-minute period wins. The top three teams will earn scholarships for tuition and books.
Registration is $30 per team of 3-5 people, and each participant will receive a t-shirt, a meal and a chance at scholarship money, while enjoying a great day in downtown Riverside.
“The Amazing College Race is a great way for students to get familiar with downtown Riverside while also competing for scholarship money,” said Rakhee Uma, Student Body Vice-President at Riverside City College, and an organizer of the event. “It’s also a great way to represent your school.”

Mayor Rusty Bailey to Join Nation’s Mayors to Recognize National Service
Fourth annual Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service will take place Tuesday
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Mayor Rusty Bailey will join nearly 3,000 city and county leaders across America on Tuesday (4/5) in recognizing the efforts and impact of volunteer service organizations such as AmeriCorps and Senior Corps in our cities.
Mayor Bailey will host a reception on the Grier Pavilion at Riverside City Hall, 3900 Main Street, at 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the work and dedication of more than 100 AmeriCorps, National Civilian Community Corps, Senior Corps, and Energy Corps volunteers that serve throughout the City Riverside.
“Our volunteers are crucial to making Riverside the caring and supportive place that it is,” Mayor Bailey said. “They work hard to tackle some of the most pressing challenges our communities face.”
National Service volunteers in Riverside serve in a myriad of capacities, ranging from providing tutoring and mentoring for disadvantaged youth to making renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities.
This will be the fourth year Mayor Bailey has participated in this event. During the first Mayors Day of Recognition in 2013, 832 mayors highlighted achievements by National Service volunteers at public events.
