Healthy Fontana receives a $4,000 donation

Fontana –  The City of Fontana’s Healthy Fontana program has been given a donation of $4,000 from the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) for the “Let’s Get Fit on the Trail” project. The donation will be used to purchase outdoor physical fitness equipment to be installed along the Pacific Electric Trail (PE Trail) between Sierra and Cypress Avenues.

“We are incredibly grateful to SCPMG,” said Dede Benson, Healthy Fontana Program Coordinator. “They are truly a partner in our community in helping us continue with the progress of the “Let’s Get Fit on the Trail” project.” By creating an outdoor fitness gym, the residents of Fontana will have access to a gym where they can get a full work out and then cool down with a walk on the Pacific Electric Trail. The equipment will encourage walkers and joggers to exercise more muscle groups, burn more calories, and increase cardiovascular capacity.

“Southern California Permanente Medical Group shares many goals with the City of Fontana. One of those is the common goal of helping our community thrive by creating opportunities for families to be active and healthy,” said Dr. David Quam, Area Medical Director and Chief of Staff. “This donation is a gift from all of our exceptionally caring doctors to the members of our community.”
