Help the Firefighters Fill the Fire Trucks

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – (Wednesday, December 3, 2013) – The San Bernardino County Fire Department Local 935, in partnership with the Spark of Love Toy Drive and Children’s Fund’s Celebration of Giving Campaign, is asking for new unwrapped gifts and toys to fill their Fire Trucks so that the underprivileged children in our local communities will celebrate the holidays with a smile on their faces.

There are two upcoming events where the public can make donations.  Saturday, December 7, 2013 the Fire Truck will be at the Super Target located at 12795 Main Street in Hesperia from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.  “We want the entire community to join in the spirit of giving,” states Firefighter/Paramedic Jason McLaughlin, organizer of this event. “By joining together as a community, we can make a difference in many children’s holidays.” Local radio stations, The Route 103.1 and the CBS Sports station KRAK 910 will be at the event to help promote this toy drive along with other entertainment scheduled throughout the day.

And, on Saturday, December 14, 2013 you will find the San Bernardino County Firefighters next to their multiple Fire Trucks at the Stater Bros. Market parking area located at 15222 Summit Avenue in Fontana from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. “We want to see the Fire Trucks filled a few times over,” states Firefighter/Paramedic Craig Lynde, organizer of this Fill the Fire Truck event.  “We are grateful to Stater Bros. Markets for their commitment in helping the underprivileged this holiday season, and for all of our partners for making this an event where the public can pay it forward.”  KFROG Radio will be live during this event and other entertainment and games & crafts will be available to anyone donating a new, unwrapped gift or toy.

“Our partnership with the San Bernardino County Fire Department is very important to Children’s Fund,” says Erin Phillips, president and CEO of Children’s Fund.  “Together we are able to serve thousands of families in need this holiday season.  Think about the face of each and every kid as they receive their gift.  Each donation matters, and we are so grateful.”  Children’s Fund’s Celebration of Giving Campaign is in its 25th year of collecting holiday gifts for underprivileged children in our local communities. In a region where one in four youth live in poverty, it is a way to help bring joy to a child during this Christmas.  Donations can also be made to your local fire stations or dropped off at 1140 E. Cooley Ave., San Bernardino through December 18, 2013.

Created in 1986, Children’s Fund is a non-profit whose mission is to prevent child abuse in our community; to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished, or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care and education; and to provide equal opportunity for social development for these children.  Since its inception, Children’s Fund has served more than 1.3 million children.
