It’s a Great American Party, and for those living in Southern California, it’s close to home! Classic cars, hot air balloons, villages of mountain men, vittles and crafts form the backdrop to this vacation style escape weekend, known as Huck Finn’s Jubilee.
“All the Gold in California” is still here when Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers bring it to main stage, Father’s Day. You can hear “Let’s party” from Lisa Haley that afternoon. Then on Saturday a kind of mandolin madness by Scott Gates and Evan Marshall prepares main stage for a “Moonshine Jam” Saturday night. Sirius XM Radio’s Chris Jones & the Night Drivers, the Dry Branch Fire Squad, RFD television’s Ronnie Reno & the Reno Tradition and the Steep Canyon Rangers warm up the cool moon lit summer evening.
A Friday night barn dance, Sunday square dance, and line dancing all three days by KC Douglas add to the weekend “family friendly” party atmosphere.
And of course Mark Twain Live, our very own Huck Finn, Rylan Nordbeck and Hannibal’s Tom & Becky welcome you into a magical world without the TV.
You can arrive early (6 a.m. for hot air balloons) and stay late (11pm) for $20 each day, a great value, or better yet, camp with us on the 800 acre Mojave Narrows Regional Park for the pickin’ parties, games and music workshops.
