WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

National Basketball Association (NBA) -Basketball has been played for over one hundred years after being invented in 1891 by Dr.  James Naismith. The first official game was played in a community YMCA on January 20, 1892.  The NBA was established and due to significant sponsorship and advertisers, national television grow the sport into the game level we see today.

National Basketball Association Development League (D-League)- The D-League is the NBA’s developmental league. Players are assigned to this league through a variety of methods and are directly associated with NBA teams. Players from the D-League can be called up to a NBA roster at any given time.

American Basketball Association (ABA) -Founded in 1967 and actually branching off of the NBA, is a more free and flashy style of play in comparison to the NBA as well as rule differences make it more exciting to watch.  Today the ABA boasts over 60 teams in 10 divisions across the United States.  In early 2010 the league began a new $200 million initiative called, “ABA  Global.” Play began spring of 2010 with the representation of 3 teams which included the Riverside Rainmakers Basketball Organization.

The Rainmakers Basketball Organization is in the business of providing entertainment through sports. Utilizing a unique synergy of sports, entertainment, arts, technology and innovation, a fun-filled atmosphere is ideal for fans and families in the Inland Empire.
