Directors Notes… Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you think some people are destined to be together? In William R. Dixon’s wonderful adaptation of the story of Cinderella these questions, and others, will be answered.
I have the privilege of being the director for this year’s production of Cinderella. I am once again excited about bringing the wonderful music and words of Mr. Dixon to life. I have always loved Patricia Dixon’s way of sharing her idea of what happens with “Billy’s” shows. Each time we do one of his shows all of the wonderful characters “awaken” to entertain our audience. When the show is done the scripts and scores go to “sleep” in a box just waiting to awaken once again. Cinderella and all her friends have been sleeping for ten years and now are awakening for us!
As always, Mr. Dixon incorporates all of the classic elements of this fairy tale. He then adds some delightful new characters and an interesting plot twist (or two). The result is a fresh and very entertaining look at this classic tale. I hope you will join us this summer, July 22nd through August 6th, for William R. Dixon’s Cinderella!
