Jurupa Valley, CA – Although he was one of the first out of the gate, Aric Isom did not collect enough signatures to qualify to have his name printed on the upcoming March 8th ballot form. He has since qualified as a write-in candidate for the office of City Council person.
Isom originally collected twenty-eight signatures, but came two signatures short of the required twenty due to the disqualification of ten of his signatories.
Isom believes that his life experiences, education, and community based background gives him a unique perspective when it comes to running a new city. He believes that a new city means a clean slate. “We don’t have to make the same mistakes that others have in the past,” says Isom. “We can keep our community rural, and also keep it safe and clean.”
He say that he wants to develop a long term strategic plan for the Jurupa Valley, while insuring that it has a proper infrastructure, with an extra eye on the flood plans, roads, and traffic control. He wants to work with law enforcement to implement programs to enhance the safety of the new city.
“I won’t forget about our youth, I’ll continue what has started with in the community centers and work to expand youth programs through community investment, not tax hikes,” Isom explains. “I will remember that the city will be made up of multiple communities, each with it’s own unique wants, needs, and problems. I understand that we are a diverse group of individuals.”
Isom has a track record of working with others in achieving the goals of the collective. “I’ve not only worked along side city government, but also community groups and non-profits, such as the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, the Child Leader Project,” Isom tells us. “In addition to running a home base small business I am currently President of the local non-profit group Friends Across The Line,Inc.”
Isom has undergone training in group dynamics and conflict resolution. He has taught classes and workshops on inter-cultural community building, and has facilitated study circles on immigration, race relations, and police/community interaction.
“With me you get heart and experience in action,” Isom. “I believe in local control over local issues, controlled growth, and minimal government interference in our day to day lives.”
Incorporation gives you local control over services and standards in your community. You may want to have more control over what gets built and where. Jurupa residents should have more influence and direct control over city safety, security, city planning, zoning, and other issues of local interest. Make sure that you have the right people representing you in the new Jurupa Valley City Council.
Remember that if you would like to vote for Aric you must write his name in on the ballot as one of your five picks, and connect the line showing you are voting for him.
