SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Cal State San Bernardino’s College of Extended Learning (CEL) is holding information sessions this fall to provide information for prospective students who are interested in health careers. In partnership with allied health education provider CareerStep, CEL offers two new, premium package medical certificate programs that can be completed online: Medical Transcription Editor and Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing. These programs include all coursework from the existing Medical Transcription and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing certificates plus additional material to provide even more career opportunities. As a special offer, every student who enrolls in one of the online Career Step programs between Sept. 24 and Nov. 4, 2010 will receive a free laptop computer! After Nov. 4, only those enrolling in one of the premium package programs are eligible to receive a free laptop.
The comprehensive online certificate programs cover everything you’ll need for entry-level employment, including all course materials, practice on authentic medical records, and one-on-one support. Most students complete a certificate program in four to eight months. After completion, career assistance resources are available to help you find a job.
“These premium package certificate programs combine real-world training and the ability to learn at your own pace from the comfort of your home online,” said Program Administrator Steve McAdams. “I encourage everyone who is interested in a career in the medical field to attend one of our information sessions and learn more.”
Information sessions are scheduled on Fri., Sept. 24 from 6–8 pm at Cal State San Bernardino in the Yasuda Center, and on Sat., Sept. 25, from 10 am–12 pm at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus in the Rogers Gateway building. Light refreshments will be served, and advance reservations are suggested. A $5 parking permit is required at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.
