Library duties will be assumed by Administrative Services Manager George Guzman
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Riverside Library Director Tonya Kennon will serve as Interim Director of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, effective Monday (3/31).
Kennon will provide executive leadership at the Parks Department for several weeks while the City of Riverside seeks a replacement for retiring Director Ralph Nunez, whose last day is Friday (3/28).
Kennon has been Director of the Riverside Public Library since 2011. She previously was the chief librarian for Riverside County.
“Tonya Kennon will provide excellent leadership for our Parks Department while we conduct a search for a new Director,” City Manager Scott Barber said. “Her organizational skills and ability to bring people together will ensure that the Parks Department continues the tradition of excellence that it has been known for under Ralph Nunez.”
While Kennon is overseeing the Parks Department, daily oversight of the Riverside Public Library will be provided by Administrative Services Manager George Guzman, who has served as Interim Director of the Library in the past.
