Local Redlands couple honored

San Bernardino, CA – A husband and wife team will be honored for their outstanding contributions and community service.

Ronald and Wanda Skipper are scheduled to receive the Dynamic Duo Award on April 12th, 2012 at Time for Change Foundation’s 10th Year Anniversary Gala, to be held at the National Orange Show Events Center from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

“I’m so excited for Ronald and Wanda Skipper because they are truly deserving of this honor,” said Kim Carter. “It’s not often that you see both a husband and wife so dedicated to helping others and it brings me great joy to recognize these unsung heroes. ”

Ron has served as president of the SB County Bar Association, YMCA Y’s Men, and the S.B./Mexico Sister Cities Committee. He has served on the boards of the Arrowhead United Way, the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino, S. B. Civic Light Opera, SB Chamber of Commerce, Mayor’s Council for International Friendship, as well as on the foundations for San Bernardino Valley College, California State University San Bernardino and St. Bernadine Hospital.

Wanda’s community service has included serving as president of National CharityLeague /Ticktockers and the Law Auxiliary of SB County. As part of the educational and community service programs for the Law Auxiliary she also conducted student tours of the San Bernardino County Courthouse. And for many years Wanda worked on the Christmas Tree Lane event to raise money for Santa Claus, Inc. Additionally, she has served on the boards of the YWCA and the University of Redlands Town and Gown.

Celebrity Kim Fields, star from long running series, “Facts of Life,” and “Living Single,” and host for BET’s “Lens on Talent,” will be the Foundation’s Honorary Gala Chair for the evening, “It is my honor and privilege to serve as this year’s Honorary Chair for Time for Change Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Gala,” said Kim Fields. “It’s my hope and desire that their significant work will be recognized and supported by all that can. There is still much work to be done.”
