4th annual charity event honors memory of local educator
YUCAIPA, Calif. (Sept. 4, 2013) – Yucaipa Christian School (YCS) just announced their after school non-profit program Strada Corsa will hold its 4th Annual Lynn Pletcher Memorial Ride and 5K Run at the Yucaipa Community Park on September 28. Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the events begin at 8 a.m.
The fall charity ride offers three rides for participants: a family 10-mile ride, an intermediate 28-mile ride and an expert metric century 62-mile ride. Entry fees range from $25 to $50 and are fully SAG supported.
The event also features a 5k family fun run and a 5k Crossfit Challenge, health expo, food and craft vendor exhibits and live entertainment. People interested in participating in any of the events can visit www.gostradacorsa.com to learn more and sign up.
Proceeds benefit the Lynn Pletcher Memorial Scholarship funds at YCS and Yucaipa High School, as well as afterschool programs and extracurricular activities to promote healthy lifestyles at YCS and throughout the Inland Empire.
Paul Lynn Pletcher, a long-time resident of Yucaipa, Calif., devoted his life to serve his family, students, community and faith. Lynn, an avid cyclist, was lost in a tragic bike accident on November 4, 2010, just two days before the 1st Annual Strada Corsa Ride. To honor his memory and the impact he had on the community, Strada Corsa named its fall charity ride the Lynn Pletcher Memorial Ride for Education and Preventing Child Obesity.
“Lynn was a lifelong educator, cyclist and public servant,” said James Cochran, administrator for YCS. “We honor his memory through this event and get a chance to show people healthy lifestyle choices at the same time.”
