Mary Vagle Nature Center Update

Fontana, California The Mayor and City Council invite the public to join the Mary Vagle Nature Center this month for the start of their summer programs. The Mary Vagle Nature Center is located at 11501 Cypress Avenue in Fontana and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Stop by the Nature Center this summer to participate in some family friendly events. Starting on Saturday June 11, the Nature Center will host family Summer Movie Nights. Free face painting will begin at 7:15 pm, and movies will promptly begin at 8pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and snacks.  On June 11 view The Princess and the Frog, and on June 25 Alpha and Omega will be shown.

Registration begins June 1 for the Science Discovery Camp for children ages 7 to 11. This camp is a week long summer program that includes hands-on science activities, nature hikes, and a field trip. There will be four sessions of the camp; July 5-8, July 11-15, July 18-22, and July 25-29.The Science Discovery camp will run from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

Along with the summer programs, the Nature Center will continue to provide its regular weekend programs. The Discovery Hike will be on June 4 at 9:30am; this is a free guided hike through the Jurupa Hills Park. Adventures into Nature will be on June 11 at noon. This program is designed for children ages 3-6, and is aimed at introduce young children to nature. Nature Rangers is a program for children ages 7 and up. And will take place on Saturday June 18, at 12pm. The Earth Craft Afternoons is on Sunday June 26 from 1pm to 4pm.
