May Events at the Mary Vagle Nature Center

Fontana, California, May 1, 2011. The Mayor and City Council invite the public to attend the various outdoor events taking place at the Mary Vagle Nature Center this May.

On Saturday, May 7, the Mary Vagle Nature Center will have a FREE Nature Discovery Hike at 9:30 a.m.  This morning walk into the Jurupa Hills is a great way to combine fitness and learning in the outdoors. A naturalist will guide hikers, pointing out the fascinating features of the natural landscape, including rock formations, Native American history, and local plants and wildlife. The pace will be slow, or compatible with the needs of the group. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

On Saturday, May 14, take part in the Adventures into Nature program from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.  The program includes a critter craft activity, live animal demonstration, and a walk around the pond, perfect for little legs!  The event is $3 per child and up to 2 adults are free with each child.

On Sunday, May 29, bring the family to the FREE EarthCraft Afternoon activity to create fun, earth-friendly crafts from natural or recyclable items.  Take home a hand-crafted treasure at no cost to you, or the environment!  The program will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mary Vagle Nature Center.

The Mary Vagle Nature Center is located at 11501 Cypress Avenue in Fontana and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information about events at the Mary Vagle Nature Center, please call the Center at (909) 349-6994 or visit their website at nature.fontana.org.
