“Study after study has proven that education results and success are not tied to dollars spent, which is why I cosponsored the ‘Setting New Priorities in Education Spending Act,” to streamline and enforce efficient and effective spending in education,” said McKeon. “There are at least 43 of 80 programs currently operating within the Department of Education for K-12 that are unnecessary or redundant. As part of an overall effort to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, while also focusing on education methods proven to produce real results, we are working to reorganize and remove wasteful programs. It’s time we focus on what works for our students and not continue to carelessly throw money – upwards of $24 billion – at the greater problem we are trying to address – which is student achievement.”
