Meet the "Makers and Shakers" in San Bernardino's History

This one-day journey of discovery provides a look back at the “Who’s Who” of San Bernardino’s colorful past. Led by local historian Nick Cataldo, the “Makers and Shakers of Old San Bernardino” course is offered by Cal State San Bernardino’s College of Extended Learning on Sat., Jan. 29, 2011.

You’ll discover the pioneers who helped San Bernardino play a predominant role as a gateway for westward migration into Southern California.  Learn about some 19th century pioneers—a diverse group of Anglos, African-Americans, Jews, Native Americans and Latinos—who contributed to the city’s rich heritage. An afternoon field trip to several local historic sites will help make history come alive.

This course is open to the general public and may be of special interest to K-12 teachers of California or local history.
