Mental Health Services to Continue for Military Members and their Families

July 29, 2013–At the Board of Supervisors’ Board meeting today, a new contract was approved with Pacific Clinics to provide prevention and early intervention (PEI) military services and family support services in the Desert region areas of Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms.

The PEI Military Services and Family Support Project includes two components: (1) in-home screening and assessment for active duty, Reserve, National Guard and recently retired military and their families; and (2) case management, early intervention services and referrals for those identified as needing more extensive mental health services. The Department of Behavioral Health staff will work with the County Department of Veterans Affairs and local military installations when determining which families are most in need. Based on factors such as ability, readiness and experience, Pacific Clinics was selected as the provider of these services for the Desert region.

“I would like to thank DBH Director CaSonya Thomas and her team for their diligence in assuring the continuation of these services for our military service members in the Morongo Basin. We remain dedicated to providing mental health services to all residents of our great County, regardless of geographic location,” stated Supervisor Ramos.

Pacific Clinics is located at 5910 Adobe Rd., Suite E, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277. The phone number is (760) 361-7124
