Museum Reading Group Discusses Controversial Book

The San Bernardino County Museum will host a book discussion in its Reading Discoveries series on Wednesday, June 8, at 7:30pm. The group will discuss “What’s the Matter with California: Cultural rumbles from the Golden State,” by Jack Cashill. This program is free to the public.

“This book was selected for its unusual point of view about California,” said Curator of Education and group facilitator Jolene Redvale. “I think the author makes some very good points, which result in the reader thinking critically about conditions in the Golden State.”

Cashill is a writer and editor of Ingram’s business magazine. His book is a humorous yet serious take on how various cultural forces in California have historically shaped social and political conditions.

The Reading Discoveries book discussion group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30p.m. The discussion is open to the public free of charge. For more information about the discussion group, contact Jolene Redvale at (909) 307-2669 ext. 252 or e-mail jredvale@sbcm.sbcounty.gov.
