INLAND EMPIRE, California – NAIOP Inland Empire will host its 19th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, April 25 at the Industry Hills Golf Club’s IKE Course, One Industry Hills Parkway in the City of Industry. Proceeds from the event will support the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides scholarships and educational counseling to surviving children of fallen special operations personnel. Last year, the event raised more than $10,000 for the foundation. The chapter aims to match that amount again this year.
“As a business organization, we understand the importance of giving more youth access to secondary education,” said Kim Snyder, 2013 NAIOP Inland Empire president. “The Special Operations Warrior Foundation ensures that children of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country’s freedom are provided the opportunity to obtain a college education and the support needed to start and complete the process with one less parent. I can’t find a better reason to golf.”
Founded in 1980, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has helped more than 218 children of fallen special operations soldiers complete their college education. There are currently 140 students enrolled in colleges and universities across the U.S. with foundation funding. The foundation also offers immediate financial assistance to families of special operations personnel who are severely wounded by providing grants to cover traveling costs so they can be with their wounded loved ones.
“Now in its 19th year, the golf tournament has become a signature event that allows the business community to raise funds for a worthy cause, while giving them the opportunity to network and have some fun,” said Robert Evans, executive director of NAIOP Inland Empire.
More than 140 inland business professionals are registered to golf. The full-day event features a 19-hole round of golf, BBQ lunch, networking and awards reception and putting, long drive and closest to the pin contests.
