New Orleans Comes to Downtown Riverside on April 1st to Support Community Connect

Friday, April 1st, 2016, Downtown Riverside

Mardi Crawl is coming to Downtown Riverside! This Mardi Gras-themed Pub Crawl takes place on Friday, April 1st, and helps to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Community Connect and its seven important programs that serve all of Riverside County.

Over 300 “Crawlers” will start at Loft.84 and be led through downtown Riverside by live Jazz music as they visit downtown “pubs.” Mardi Gras beads, specialty drinks, appetizers, a raffle and entertainment will add to the celebration.

Participating “pubs” are Arts Bar & Grill, ProAbition Kitchen & Whiskey Lounge, Mario’s Place, Worthington’s Tavern, Mezcal Cantina y Cocina, the Menagerie, Mission Tobacco Lounge, and El Patron, with the possibility of more being added.

Helping Community Connect ring in its 50th year are eight king and queen candidates vying for top honors. These eight community leaders were selected to be members of the Royal Court because of their endless community contributions and involvement. They will be working hard for the title of King or Queen by selling votes at $1 a vote.

The 2016 King candidates include Brian Hawley, Shayna Golbaf, Scott Brennan, Mary Parks, Julio Figueroa, Dawn DeLorenzo, Clara Vera, and Alfred Arguello. Current reigning King, Nathan Miller, and Queen, Debbi Guthrie, will hand over their crowns the night of the event.

All proceeds of the Mardi Crawl festivities benefit Community Connect. Community Connect is a nonprofit organization serving over 250,000 people each year through a multitude of social services including 211 Riverside County, housing assistance, transportation assistance, advocacy and protection of the elderly, a suicide prevention hotline, volunteer matching, an alternative sentencing program, and its Nonprofit Resource Center.
