Ontario Convention Center promotes John Faheem

Director of Food & Beverage started his new position on December 1, 2015

ONTARIO, California (Wednesday, December 10, 2015) Officials with the Ontario Convention Center have announced the promotion of John Faheem to Director of Food & Beverage.  Faheem will oversee all food and beverage for events at the Ontario Convention Center plus off site catering and Page One at Ovitt Family Library in Ontario.  Faheem started with the Ontario Convention Center in July of 2015 as Food & Beverage Manager.  “John Faheem brings experience on a national and international level to Ontario Convention Center.  Since hiring him in July he has become a valuable part of the extraordinary experience we enjoy providing for our guests” said Michael Krouse, President and CEO of Ontario Convention Center.

Faheem was born in Cairo Egypt and started his career at Atlas International Hotel at age 14 where he worked in almost all departments of  the hotel, including the Restaurant, Kitchen, Room Service, Banquet, Bar, Night Club and Front Desk.  In 1969, he was inspired to come to America when Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins walked on the moon.  “I kept that dream to myself, knowing where I would end up in the future” said Faheem.   At age 21, Faheem was part of the original team to open the largest Marriott Hotel & Casino in the region.  He pursued his academic education in Cairo Egypt at the Ain Shams University Faculty of Arts, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Psychology.  While teaching Philosophy and Psychology in the mornings for many years, he would work at the hotel at night.  At that time he began studying every book that he could find about food and beverage from all the hospitality colleges in the country.  Finally in 1985 his dream came true, Faheem came to America where he continued to work with hotels such as the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, Hilton Hotels in Whittier and Torrance, Marriott Laguna Cliffs Hotel, Double Tree Hotel, and Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center.

Faheem resides in Rancho Cucamonga with Deloris, his wife of 29 years.  He has 4 adult children that he is very proud of;  Rebekah who is an auditor and married, John who is finishing up his doctoral degree in corporate management and is a Wells Fargo Mortgage Manager and , Marcos a recent graduate with a BS in Mathematics, and Mary who is currently attending CSUSB working on her multiple subjects teaching credentials.  In his spare time Faheem enjoys reading, camping, working with wood, and his favorite time is to watch the sunset on the beach.  Faheem says his short term goal is to provide every guest that comes to the Ontario Convention Center with the highest level of quality in food and service, and his long term goal is to make the Ontario Convention Center a model to the best of the best in hospitality among all Convention Centers.
