Doggie-POOLOOZA gives pooches a chance to make a big splash

CUCAMONGA-GUASTI REGIONAL PARK (Ontario, CA) – As the dog days of summer come to an end and the regular summer swim season closes Labor Day for San Bernardino County Parks’ patrons; Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, 800 North Archibald Avenue, Ontario, will open its pool September 15, 2012 one more time for only its canine patrons.

Doggie-POOLOOZA allows pet owners to bring their pals, who have had to endure the summer in a fur coat, for a last dip in the cool pool. The annual event also boasts a swimsuit competition (for the dogs), a dog/owner look-alike contest, a talent show (sorry humans, this one is also for the dogs), and little dog races.

VCA Central Animal Hospital is partnering with San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department and other sponsors, such as, Ufuria and Friends of Regional Parks to offer pet care workshops, adoptions, and a wide variety of pet products.

Canine participants must be six-months-old, have a license and proof of up-to-date vaccinations, and must be on a six-foot leash when not in the pool. The first 50 in attendance will receive a free doggie goodie bag.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the entry fee is $10 per vehicle and $1 per canine participant. For more information call the San Bernardino Regional Parks department at (909) 387-2461.
