Ontario: Free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

Ontario, Calif., – The City of Ontario is offering free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training at the Ontario Convention Center starting May 7, 2011.

CERT training helps the community work together to respond to disasters that impact their homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods. CERT training provides lectures, videos, and hands-on specialized training for participants that may be needed if emergency responders are delayed due to the size and scope of the disaster. CERT classes include training on Emergency/Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety/Suppression, Disaster Medical, Light Search and Rescue, Terrorism, and Disaster Psychology.

“CERT training will help you, your family and your neighbors be prepared for emergency and disaster situations,” said Ontario Mayor Paul Leon. “CERT training supports the goal of the City to be a disaster resilient, prepared community.”

Classes for this session are held on three consecutive Saturdays from 9 am-5 pm on May 7, 14, and 21, 2011.  The program is offered free of charge, and is open to all City of Ontario residents and employees age 18 and up. Registration is on a first-come, first-in basis, as space is limited.
