Ontario & Ontario Mills Invest in Jobs and Economic Growth

ONTARIO, CA – Several exciting new enhancements will be coming soon to Ontario Mills, carrying major long-term economic benefits for the entire Inland Empire region. This announcement, benefitting businesses, residents and visitors, is thanks to an agreement between the City of Ontario Redevelopment Agency and The Mills®, a Simon Company, which owns Ontario Mills, California’s largest outlet and value retail shopping destination.

This investment by the City is part of a proactive initiative to add jobs, increase sales tax revenue, expand business and continue the City’s strong tradition as one of California’s leading municipalities for economic growth and prosperity.

By early 2011, Ontario Mills’ already popular shopping experience will be enhanced, with a greatly expanded Forever 21 and Burlington Coat Factory, plus the addition of Sports Authority, as well as more convenient entrances and extra parking.

“We are excited to add even more new stores and enhancements to Ontario Mills as the leading outlet and value retail shopping destination in California,” said Gregg Goodman, president of The Mills, a Simon Company. “We applaud the City of Ontario for their investment and progressive vision for the future to ensure that millions of local residents and visitors will have access to the great shopping, dining and entertainment at Ontario Mills.”

Forever 21 will more than quadruple its retail space, expanding from 13,000 square-feet to 54,000 square-feet. The retail chain has grown in popularity, providing shoppers from around the world with the most current trends at an amazing value. This fun and exciting store offers women, men, teens and children several options for creating head-to-toe looks with a huge fashion forward selection of accessories, apparel, swimwear, shoes and more. Forever 21 will relocate to Neighborhood 4.

Burlington Coat Factory will also expand from 80,000 square-feet to 112,000 square-feet. The retailer offers everyday savings of up to 70% off department store prices on a wide selection of clothing and accessories for the entire family, plus its Home Décor and Baby Depot departments. Burlington Coat Factory will remain in Neighborhood 5, next to Dave & Buster’s.

Sports Authority, the nation’s premier full-line sporting goods chain, will open a new store at Ontario Mills, offering sports fans everything for outdoor and indoor play, including sports gear, apparel, accessories and more. Sports Authority will occupy more than 50,000 square-feet and will be located in Neighborhood 3, near the Food Court.

For the City of Ontario, Ontario Mills is an important component of the city’s complete community vision.

“Ontario Mills is an important asset to all that our city has to offer and we recognize its many great benefits, including valuable economic growth and more jobs for years to come,” said Paul Leon, Mayor of Ontario. “We are committed to our residents and businesses and will continue to be a strong and economically viable city, providing the very best in quality shopping, dining and entertainment.”

“This is a great example of a public-private collaboration that will create a positive chain reaction to benefit the community,” said Goodman. “Ontario Mills continues to perform well and this will only enhance its success.”

“We value the opportunity to work alongside The Mills, in bringing about these exciting enhancements. I look forward to seeing these new retailers flourish, which will only strengthen our City’s already recognized reputation as one of the leading shopping destinations throughout the entire U.S.,” said Alan Wapner, Mayor Pro Tem of Ontario.

As part of the growth and development of Ontario Mills, shoppers will also enjoy the advantages of additional entrances from Parking Lots 3 and 4, which will be accessible and a part of the new Forever 21 and Sports Authority. This added convenience will be enhanced with added parking spaces, updated informational signs and decorative landscaping.

These exciting new additions come as Ontario Mills’ already popular retail mix of more than 200 outlet and value retail stores continues to evolve. Coach Mens Factory and Foreign Exchange recently opened at Ontario Mills, while earlier this year, Betsey Johnson Outlet, aerie by American Eagle and Closet Signature joined Ontario Mills’ retail mix. Other retailers enjoying success at Ontario Mills include Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Coach Factory Store, Nordstrom Rack, Tommy Bahama Outlet, Cole Haan Clearance, J.Crew Factory, Guess Factory Store, Abercrombie & Fitch Outlet, Charlotte Russe, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Victoria’s Secret, Nike Factory Store, Old Navy and more.

Ontario Mills will remain open during all phases of development.
