Ontario, Ca. – Bill Cortus, financial consultant at Thrivent Financial, has been named a Thrivent 2018 Divisional Volunteer of the Year. To earn this recognition, Cortus generously served as a volunteer for more than 40 organizations in 2017, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and FrontSight Military Outreach.
“It is an honor to be named a Thrivent 2018 Divisional Volunteer of the Year,” said Cortus. “I feel fortunate to be able to give back to my community and it’s my goal to help Thrivent members do the same. I want to help them support the causes and organizations they care about and translate their ideas into action.”
As part of this recognition, Thrivent is making a donation to a nonprofit organization of Cortus’ choice. He has requested the donation be made to FrontSight Military Outreach, an organization with a Christian focus that aims to reduce rates of veteran suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Cortus has been actively involved with the Fellowship of Christian athletes since 2017, working to help local coaches, athletes and their boosters combine their passion for athletics and faith to make a positive impact in the world. Cortus contributes fundraising expertise as a member of the organization’s Inland Empire advisory board.
In addition, Cortus is passionate about giving back to veterans and has sponsored more than a dozen fundraisers and activities for FrontSight Military Outreach. Funds raised help bring veterans into FrontSight facilities for counseling to bring them closer to their faith and provide them with the resources they need to cope with the transition from military to civilian life.
Cortus serves Christians and their family members in Ontario and the surrounding communities. He has worked for Thrivent Financial since 2003.
