Pancake Breakfast at the Asistencia in Redlands

Tickets are on sale now for the second of two pancake breakfast fundraisers at the Asistencia in Redlands, scheduled for Saturday, September 28 between 8 and 10 a.m. The event is presented by the Redlands Service Club Council and proceeds benefit on-going improvements at the historic site, including the creation of new exhibits in the Asistencia’s museum building.

Breakfast will be provided by The Redlands Kiwanis Noon and other Service Club Council members. Tickets are $5 per person or $25 per family. Tickets can be purchased through the Redlands City Clerk’s office. In addition to breakfast, guests can enjoy the courtyard garden and take an informal tour of the site. The Asistencia, California State Historical Landmark #42, was established in 1819 as an outpost of the Mission San Gabriel. Through its history it served the mission, families of the Rancho San Bernardino, Mormon settlers, and San Bernardino Valley pioneers until it fell into ruin at the end of the 19th century. It was rebuilt between 1926 and 1937 to reflect the Mission era and is recognized as an outstanding example of handcrafted structures of the WPA era.

“The ongoing efforts of the Redlands Service Club Council through the Redlands Community Foundation are truly remarkable, and we are so very grateful for their providing the means to have new, engaging exhibits at the Asistencia,” said Michele Nielsen, the museum’s curator of history. “Each person who has made an effort toward all of the wonderful renovations to the buildings, and the new exhibits truly is a partner in this community-wide project. Our thanks to everyone for making possible a great transformation.”
