RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The March Field Air Museum is proud to announce Paul Hammond has been named as the new Executive Director, effective August 1, 2016. In this new role, Hammond will be responsible for overall management and operation of the nonprofit museum. He will be involved in efforts to attract and engage new audiences, the introduction of innovative programs, and the development of community partnerships. Hammond will also focus on marketing, to increase attendance, grow the membership program, ensure income streams remain robust, and broaden current giving opportunities.

For the past 19 years, Hammond worked for the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento, most recently serving as Museum Director. During his time there, he successfully developed marketing, community relations, strategic partnerships and funding programs, ensuring the Railroad Museum’s position as a top attraction for the Capital region as well as a nationally respected leader in the transportation museum field.
Hammond is a 2004 graduate of the Museum Leadership Institute sponsored by the J. Paul Getty Trust. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communications from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. A lifelong transportation enthusiast, Hammond began his museum involvement as a volunteer organizer, leader and trustee of the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris. He has been actively involved with the American Alliance of Museums for the past 15 years, serving as chairman of the Council of Affiliates from 2007-2016 and actively supporting nationwide advocacy efforts on behalf of America’s many thousands of museums.
