Photography workshop in Redlands

Join San Bernardino County Museum Curator of History Michele Nielsen and professional photographer Terry Long on Sunday, September 12, for an informative afternoon roving photography workshop and architectural walking tour in downtown Redlands.

Terry Long will offer tips and techniques photographers of all skill levels can use to improve their images and enhance their enjoyment of the built environment around us. “So often we forget to look up, down, and even behind us, to capture a new perspective with our camera,” said Long.

Participants will meet at the west side of the Redlands Bowl promptly at 2pm for the 2-hour tour and head out on foot to capture unique building features, interesting construction materials, and historic structures in the fall light.

“Bring your camera, a notebook, and wear your walking shoes and we will learn about the architectural treasure around us, and how you can use your own camera to best advantage in the field to capture subtle details,” said Nielsen. “Often, we hurry by buildings in our communities, without noticing the small things. By re-training our eyes—through the lens of our camera—we can find ways to enjoy our architectural heritage at the sidewalk level.”

This mobile TalkShop is free to the public, and is a part of the “Arts, Naturally!” initiative of the San BernardinoCounty Museum sponsored by a generous grant from the James Irvine Foundation.  Participants will walk a distance of several miles, over uneven terrain, and are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. For more information, call Michele Nielsen at (909) 307-2669 ext. 240.
