A.K. Smiley Public Library sponsors Employment Boot Camp, Thursday July 26, 2012

Redlands, CA — The A.K. Smiley Public Library is sponsoring an Employment Boot Camp, Thursday July 26, 2012 from 1-5pm. This is 4-hour workshop is free to the public. No reservations required, but seating is limited so attendees should arrive early.

Learning Objectives: With the continued depressed economy in the Inland Empire region, employment is a hot topic and the A.K. Smiley Public Library wants to assist. Whether a person has been searching for a job for 2 weeks or 2 years, this Employment Boot Camp workshop provides imaginative ideas to turn the job search process from reactive to proactive and put the job seeker in the driver’s seat for landing his or her dream career.

Attendees will learn how not to be their own worst enemy and find a job based on their passion and interests using innovative search strategies. Attendees will also learn effective resume writing and interview techniques.

This interactive workshop targets professionals anywhere in their career path from recent graduates to mid‐career changers as well as those who have been laid off, downsized or are returning to a career after time away from the workforce.

Presenter Bio: Jamie Beck, M.S. is a Southern California-based Holistic Career Coach.
A former Career Counselor for the California State University system Ms. Beck has a Master’s Degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Social Systems and a concentration in Family and Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Children, Youth, and Family.

She has worked for California Department of Education and First 5 funded programs in the public and nonprofit sector, has been a CSU Career Counselor, owns and operates Baby Elephant Books, presents career education workshops and trainings at libraries, high schools, colleges and community organizations, keynotes at conferences and offers private career coaching.

Ms. Beck’s candid approach to presenting, her ability to think outside the box and use analogies and stories to connect with people, and her passion for helping people remove “barbed wire” from their lives to find their “dream dessert,” allow her to inspire people to take the steps necessary to become employed or change careers.
