Redlands Community Foundation and The Tartan of Redlands Team Up for A.K. Smiley Public Library

REDLANDS – Redlands will be coming together for a special fundraiser to benefit A.K. Smiley Public Library on Sunday, August 14. The event, called “Come Together: A Rockin’ Night for Smiley Library” is sponsored by the Redlands Community Foundation and will be held at The Tartan of Redlands.

“After seeing the continued cuts to the Library’s budget, we knew we had to do something to help,” said Todd Loza, one of the event’s organizers. “How can you have a library if there’s no money for books and children’s programs?”

The genesis for the event came while a group of friends were having dinner at The Tartan following the last round of layoffs of library employees. “Tartan Manager, Linda Crosby, immediately volunteered the restaurant to help out, and it’s just grown from there,” said Loza.

Redlands’s own West Palm Avenue Band has volunteered to provide entertainment, and will be playing everyone’s favorite classic rock songs.

The Tartan will be serving hors d’oeuvres, dinner salad, choice of New York Steak, Chicken Piccata, or entrée Bistro Salad, and dessert. Doors open at 5 pm and dinner will be served between 6 and 7:30 pm. Numerous items donated by local businesses will be featured in an opportunity drawing, as well.

Space is limited. Tickets are a $50 donation and must be purchased in advance by cash or check made out to the Redlands Community Foundation at The Tartan, 24 East Redlands Blvd, and Todd Hamilton Salon, 6 E. State St., or by calling the Redlands Community Foundation at (909) 792-7225.
