REDLANDS: San Bernardino County Museum open Memorial Day Monday

County Museum open Memorial Day Monday

The San Bernardino County Museum will be open on the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission fees apply.

“The museum is usually closed on Mondays,” said Jennifer Reynolds, the museum’s media specialist, “but we open our doors to the public on several holiday Mondays as a local destination for a three-day weekend.”

Museum visitors will be able to enjoy two special exhibits. “Art and Artifact” uses paintings and sculpture in conjunction with three-dimensional objects to explore the meaning behind works of art in a personal and practical context. “The Fabrics of Our Past” is an exhibit of fashion and textiles from the 1860s through the 1960s. By examining costumes from the museum collections, visitors can envision lifestyles of the past and see how changes in technology are reflected in both everyday and special occasion clothing.

Permanent exhibits inside and outside the museum include displays that explore the prehistory, history, and natural history of inland Southern California and the southwest.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sb countymuseum.org. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. If assistive listening devices or other auxiliary aids are needed in order to participate in museum exhibits or programs, requests should be made through Museum Visitor Services at least three business days prior to your visit.
