Riverside AIRSHOW Celebrates 25th Anniversary This Saturday

Riverside, CA – The Riverside AIRSHOW celebrates its 25th anniversary on Saturday (4/1) with a full day of free family fun, including vintage aircraft for viewing on the ground and in the air, aerobatic performances, parachute teams and aircraft fly-bys.

AIRSHOW 2017 kicks off with a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast for $6 per person, with AIRSHOW activities scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Riverside Airport, 6951 Flight Road, off Arlington Avenue, in Riverside. AIRSHOW 2017 is presented by the City of Riverside and the Riverside Airshow Committee.

“The Riverside AIRSHOW is a great family event that showcases the Riverside Airport as an amazing place for pilots and aviation enthusiasts,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said. “For many Riversiders, the AIRSHOW is a spring ritual and a great opportunity to get out an enjoy a wonderful community event.”

Performances begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Just In Time Skydivers Parachute Team jumping with the American Flag while the National Anthem plays, one of two group jumps they are performing this year. Entertainment will continue through the day, with performers available for photos and autographs. More information about performances can be found at www.riversideairshow.com.

In addition to the performances, aircraft will be on display on the ground for viewing and photographs. Some of the aircraft will include a DC-3 “Flabob Express,” an FM-2 Wildcat, a P-51 Mustang, a P-63 Kingcobra, a C-47Skytrain, a C-53 SkyTrooper, and numerous other notable WWII and modern aircraft.

Also on display will be antique and classic aircraft, military vehicles and antique engines. The Inland Empire Car Club Council will have a car show with more than 150 antique and classic cars on display. Other attractions include a kiddie carnival, vendors, displays, and food booths operated by vendors and local non-profit groups.

“The AIRSHOW offers something for everyone in the family,” said City Councilman Mike Soubirous, who represents the area. “From the planes in the sky to the ones you can reach out and touch on the ground, the AIRSHOW celebrates aviation and the wonder of flight.”

Admission to AIRSHOW 2017 is free. Parking will be available at Harvest Christian Fellowship at Adams and Arlington and at the airport for $10.00 per car. Handicap parking is available near the airport’s terminal building.
