Riverside CA – The Riverside Art Museum (RAM) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that board member Greg Adamson has been appointed as Interim Executive Director.
Mr. Adamson has served on the RAM board since 2010. He currently serves on the board of the Jefferson Transitional Program, which he helped found over 20 years ago, as Vice President, and serves on the board of the Riverside Arts Council (RAC) and was the RAC President from 2008-2010. Previous leadership includes serving on the boards of Alternatives to Domestic Violence, Whiteside Manor, Riverside Downtown Partnership, Orange Blossom Festival, People’s Gallery, and Habitat for Humanity.
Adamson is a man of many talents. He recently retired from Union Bank after 23 years as a financial executive where, over the years, he held the positions of Relationship Manager, Regional Vice-President, and Vice-President and Senior Credit Executive. Aside from stepping in to support the museum while a national search is underway for a permanent Executive Director, his future plans include exploring his artistic passions and evolving his unique form of performance art, i.e., painting to music with both hands creating huge paintings, usually portraits of famous people in just minutes.
Greg has an interesting take on life and art. He states, “I think too many people fail to follow their passions in life. I have found that you don’t have to make a giant leap. Instead, you can gradually acquire skills and resources that allow you to live out your dream. Most important is that it is never too late.”
“We are pleased to have such a multi-talented and dedicated individual as our interim director,” states Board President, Sue Simonin. “Greg has been a positive driving force on our board and we are confident that he will do a great job serving in this new capacity for the museum.”
Adamson currently resides in Claremont where he also has his commercial art studio. He has three grown children and six grandchildren. He will assume the interim position at RAM on December 1. He looks forward to furthering the arts in Riverside and the Inland Empire.
RAM relies on the generosity of members and donors to support its exhibitions, education programs, and special events. A 50-plus-year-old, private, non-profit cultural arts institution housed in a National Historic 1929 building designed by Hearst Castle architect Julia Morgan, the museum welcomes over 50,000 visitors a year. The museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. On the first Thursday of each month, museum hours are 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with paid admission. The museum re-opens from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. for Arts Walk free of charge.
