Riverside Closings at Mission Inn Avenue in July

Mission Inn Avenue to Close at Rail Crossing July 11-15

BNSF Railway project to rehabilitate railroad crossing, create smoother ride

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Mission Inn Avenue between Santa Fe Avenue and Commerce Street will be closed July 11-15 for a rehabilitation project by BNSF Railway.  All vehicle and pedestrian access will be blocked during the work period.

Please drive cautiously and safely around the work zone because there will be workers and equipment on the roadway.

Advanced warning signs will be placed to inform motorists of closures.  Plan ahead and rideshare if possible.

The BNSF Railway project is part of a $180 million capital commitment in California for 2016.  It is primarily focused on maintenance projects that help ensure BNSF continues to operate a safe and reliable network.

The largest component of this year’s capital plan will be replacing and upgrading rail, rail ties and ballast, which are the main components for the tracks on which BNSF trains operate. Regular maintenance of the railroad allows BNSF to keep its network infrastructure in optimal condition.

Mission Inn Avenue Under Highway 91 Closed for Three Weeks

Caltrans project to clean and preserve freeway overcrossings continues

Mission Inn Avenue under Highway 91 will be closed for about three more weeks for painting as Caltrans continues its effort to clean and preserve the underbelly of Highway 91 where it crosses major streets in Riverside.

All vehicle traffic on Mission Inn Avenue under the freeway will remain closed during the work period. Pedestrian access will be maintained during construction activities. No night or weekend work is scheduled.

Once the Mission Inn Avenue project is completed in early July, the same sort of work will be started on Brockton Avenue/Mary Street under Highway 91. Similar traffic closures are expected there as well. A similar project already has been completed on Third Street.

The work is designed to extend the life of each structure.  Each overcrossing will receive a pressure wash, spot blast cleaning, and new paint.  Caltrans awarded the contract to C.L. Industrial Coatings, Inc.

Residents are advised to use alternate routes.  Advanced warning signs will be placed to inform motorists of closures.  Plan ahead and rideshare if possible.
