Riverside, Ca – Michael Moore was sworn in as the 21st Fire Chief for the City of Riverside Fire Department on August 26, 2014. As our Fire Chief, he brings an extensive background in multiple aspects of the fire service. He is committed to staying active in specialized training opportunities, strategic planning and accreditation. He knows it is imperative that our city to be prepared for future challenges.
Since becoming the Fire Chief, he has the department updating our Strategic Plan; this document includes our goals, objectives and a mission statement. It helps us look forward so that we can meet the needs of the department and the city. We are also reviewing and updating the Standards of Cover to ensure we provide the best service and coverage for the city through established response time criteria.
Chief Moore also wants to be more involved by doing what he loves, volunteering in his community. He is the Department Chairperson for the Youth Fire Explorer Program, a division of The Boy Scouts of America. There are approximately 60 young adults participating in the program.
Chief Moore was born in raised in the City of Long Beach. He attended both elementary and junior high school there, and graduated from nearby Bellflower High School in 1979. Chief Moore currently resides in the City of Riverside with his wife Robyne of 32 years. They have two adult children, Candace and Cameron.
On Thursday, June 9th, Chief Moore along with Tom Hunt, an RUSD Trustee, will be honored by The Boy Scouts of America, California Inland Empire Council Mt. Rubidoux District at the Mission Inn
