Riverside Lyric Opera Brings Live Opera Back to Temecula in Addition to its Riverside Productions!

Temecula, CA – Riverside Lyric Opera opens its 2013-14 season with three performances of “Amahl and the Night Visitors” by Gian Carlo Menotti, directed by Cynthia Leigh. Under the musical direction of Dr. Stephen Tucker from UC Irvine, the opera, in English, features a cast of seasoned professional opera singers accompanied by a live orchestra.

Principal roles are played by Luke Larson (Amahl), Cynthia Leigh (the Mother), Mario Rios (King Kaspar), John Hansen (King Melchior), Terry Welborn (King Balthazer) and James Cameron (the Page). Additional cast members include a chorus of shepherds. Menotti’s music is delightful with a plot line that features a crippled shepherd boy and his mother who witness a miracle when visited by the three Wise Men on their way to Bethlehem. This is a Christmas classic the whole family can enjoy. Artist bios and photos are available upon request.

Performances are slated for Saturday, Dec. 28th at 2 pm and 7 pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 44651 Avenida de Missiones, Temecula, CA 92592 and again on Sunday, Dec. 29th at 4 pm at The Box, Fox Entertainment Plaza, 3635 Market St., Riverside, CA 92501.
