Riverside Public Library to Celebrate National Poetry Month With Nikki Grimes

Award-winning poet and author to headline free event April 18 at Casa Blanca Library

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Riverside Public Library will celebrate National Poetry Month on April 18th by hosting the “After Hours” Poetry Festival featuring best-selling author Nikki Grimes, who will be accompanied by local friends and poets who will share some of her work.

The free event is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 18th at the Casa Blanca Library community room. It will include free refreshments, books giveaways and raffles.

Ms. Grimes is a bestselling author and a prolific artist. She has written many award-winning books for children and young adults, including the NCTE Award for Poetry, the Coretta Scott King Award winner Bronx Masquerade; the Coretta Scott King Author Honor books Jazmin’s Notebook, Talkin’ About Bessie, Dark Sons, The Road to Paris, and Words with Wings; Horn Book Fanfare for Talkin’ About Bessie.  Findd Nikki Grimes Books.

Hear and share poetry in a voice-filled room when the lights go down and words come alive. Come and participate in an open mic session and enjoy a night of live music, poetry and the spoken word.
