Riverside and Rancho Cucamonga Honored in Digital Cities Survey 2016

Riverside and Rancho Cucamonga Honored

The Center for Digital Government (CDG) today announced the winners of the 2016 Digital Cities Survey. This year, two Inland Empire cities have been named winners of the “Digital Cities Survey”

  • City of Riverside placed 5th in cities with a population 250,000 – 499,999.
  • City of Rancho Cucamonga, CA tied with Pasadena for 8th in cities with a population of 125,000 to 250,000.

Now in its 15th anniversary year, the annual survey recognizes cities using technology to improve citizen services, enhance transparency and encourage citizen engagement.

“This year’s top digital cities are using technology to ensure citizens can meaningfully interact with city government more easily than any other time in history,” said Todd Sander, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. “From open data portals to enhanced connectivity and mobile platforms, this year’s top-ranked cities are actively promoting transparency, encouraging citizen participation and making it easier for people to do business with government. Congratulations to the winners!”

“Riverside’s top-five ranking reflects the commitment our city has demonstrated in making technology work for our residents,” said Lea Deesing, Riverside’s Chief Innovation Officer. “Residents and business owners are using technology more than ever in their daily lives, and the City of Riverside is committed to providing them with tools they need.”

“From our 311 app to the EngageRiverside.com website, Riverside is meeting residents and business owners where they spend much of their time – online,” Mayor Pro Tem Andy Melendrez said. “It’s exciting to see government being opened up to the community with these innovative tools.”
