Riverside, CA – RP&B CPAs is mourning the loss of a founding shareholder, Richard D. Piquet, CPA. Mr. Piquet, 69, who until recently was actively working with clients and colleagues, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack.
Mr. Piquet was respected for his technical expertise in tax and related accounting matters, his passion for learning and teaching, and his kind and welcoming demeanor which gave clients and colleagues trust and confidence when working with him. A constant learner and mentor to his team, Mr. Piquet worked with RP&B team members to constantly raise the bar and help them succeed.
“Rick has always been a leader and mentor in the firm. Through the years, he built strong relationships with clients, who became like family and provided a great example for our team. Not only has our team learned from and looked up to him, but he has been a huge part of our senior leadership transition as he planned for his retirement. We are all shocked and saddened by his loss” commented Michael Kouyoumdjian, Managing Shareholder of RP&B CPAs.
Mr. Piquet grew up as a farmer in Idaho with a constant passion for learning,. After graduating from Idaho State University, he moved to California and became a CPA working for ‘Big 8’ firms before forming RP&B CPAs with colleagues, James Roorda, retired, and Robert Bessee.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Piquet family. His priorities were always his faith, his family and his colleagues. We have great memories of Rick and will continue his legacy for learning and growing” Mr. Kouyoumdjian concluded.
Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, 1510 Taber Street, Corona, California. The viewing will be at 9:00am with the funeral service at 10:00am. All are welcome to attend. Flowers should be sent to Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona.
