ART STUDENTS SHOW THEIR WORKS IN JURIED EXHIBITION
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.— During Cal State San Bernardino’s “42nd Annual Student Art Exhibition,” it’s students who are the center of attention at the university’s Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art.
All forms of original student artwork will be on display, ranging in mediums from photography to paintings, sculpture to installation and printmaking to graphic design. This year’s exhibit contains explicit adult content and viewer discretion is highly advised. The exhibition runs June 15-July 31. An opening reception will be held on June 15, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Parking at CSUSB is $5.
The student exhibit has a long history featuring the next generation of artists and is highly competitive. Students submit their work with a 30 percent chance of being selected for display in RAFFMA’s main gallery. Each year the exhibition reflects the students’ unrestricted and artistic feeling and attitude toward the most current social issues.
This year, Rebecca Trawick, director of the Wingnall Museum of Contemporary Art at Chaffey College, will lend RAFFMA her expertise in judging the show. Her experience includes, but is not limited to, exhibition programming and curating, educational and curricular programming, artists’ lecture series, marketing and promotion, oversight of graphic design process, grant writing and consultation.
“The Annual Student Art Exhibit is the academic year’s culminating celebration of our art students’ hard work and achievement and our faculty’s commitment to excellence in teaching,” says Sant Khalsa, CSUSB art department chair.
“The exhibit demonstrates the art department’s focus on developing emerging artists and designers who are professional, technically skilled, conceptually astute and innovative.
RAFFMA’s galleries will be filled with a variety of media, subjects, approaches and styles that express a wide range of ideas about traditional and contemporary art.”

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art is a nationally recognized museum
accredited by the American Association of Museums. It is the only accredited art museum in San Bernardino.
RAFFMA has accumulated a permanent collection of nearly 1,200 objects focusing on
Egyptian antiquities, ceramics and contemporary art. The museum houses the largest
permanent and public display of Egyptian art in Southern California.
General admission to the museum is free. Suggested donation is $3. The museum is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and is closed Friday and Sunday.
