San Bernardino Nonprofits Plan to Make 2,500 Holiday Baskets

IECC Holiday Bags

Families in the Inland Empire will once again benefit from a collaboration of 21 nonprofits known as the Inland Empire Community Collaborative (IECC) this holiday season. The support of 150 volunteers who seek to feed 2,500 families in need in across the county of San Bernardino will work diligently on Saturday, December 10, 2016 to assemble meal baskets at Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino from 7:30AM to 10:30AM and immediately distribute the donations to families in need of helpful holiday cheer.

Susan Gomez, President of Inland Empire Community Collaborative, is grateful for the growth from last year’s efforts. “Last year we assembled 1600 baskets and we are humbled by the outpouring of support for this year as we are looking to assemble more than 2,500 baskets. During this difficult time in San Bernardino County, it is heartwarming to see the kind and loving spirit of the nonprofit community.”

Agencies throughout all the Inland Empire have made referrals for those families most in need in outlying areas such as; Coachella Valley, Barstow, Adelanto, Big Bear, Crestline and neighboring cities in San Bernardino, bringing much needed food to families this holiday season.

Navidad En El Barrio and Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino and various contributors provided food and resources for the activity. Participating agencies for this effort include A Coming of Age, Agape Christian Church, Community Health Systems, Inc., El Sol, High Desert New Beginnings, Mom & Dad Project, Olive Crest, Veterans Partnering With Communities and Walden Family Services, Family Man Ministries, Mountain Counseling Center, No Drugs America, Hearts & Lives, Colton Christian Church, Neighborhood Transformation Collaborative, Gateway Christian Church, Greater Hope Through Housing, Total Restoration Church, Salvation Army.
