San Bernardino County Museum Director Presents Lecture on Bird Life History

San Bernardino County Museum Director and ornithologist  will discuss three life history elements in a bird’s life at the museum on Saturday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. The presentation is included with museum general admission.

“There are three critical things in the life of a bird: molting, breeding and migration,” said McKernan. “Molting is a complex process that occurs in response to hormonal fluctuations brought about by seasonal changes. Breeding includes establishing territories, nesting, and incubation. Migration is a biannual phenomenon that occurs throughout the world.”

In “Three Critical Things in the Life of a Bird,” McKernan will explore these life history essentials and present examples pertaining to regional bird ecology.
