San Bernardino, CA – Kim Carter, Founder & Executive Director of a local nonprofit, received the “Team Work & Partnership Award” given by the City of San Bernardino’s Crime Free Multi-Housing Program for her work on her agency’s recent affordable housing development, the “Phoenix Square.”
Time for Change Foundation is the name of Carter’s agency. Since 2002 they have been helping homeless women and children transition from homelessness into self-sufficiency. They are also responsible for the Phoenix Square, a new affordable housing project on 657 North F Street in San Bernardino, CA.
The award took place at San Manuel Stadium as part of “We Care Wednesday,” where the 66ers baseball team highlights a charitable organization at the ballpark every Wednesday. Mayor Patrick Morris who presented the Award to Carter said, “Kim has built into our city a wonderful new development.”
During her speech, Carter said, “It’s important to have a ‘Crime Free Housing Program’ because as a tenant you want to know that there is a safe place to raise your children and equally as important from an organizational stand point, it lets the community and other stakeholders know that Time for Change Foundation is serious about its mission… We can’t do this alone and we are asking the community to donate to Time for Change Foundation or visit our website www.timeforchangefoundation.org.”
Nancy Finch, from the Housing Authority of San Bernardino, was also recognized shortly after and was presented the “Outstanding Achievement Award” by the City of San Bernardino’s Crime Free Multi-Housing Program.
