On December 2nd, 2015, 2 heavily armed suspects entered a holiday training event at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino and opened fire. 14 innocent victims died and 22 more were wounded in the attack. The 2 suspects were killed several hours later during a shootout with Police. At the time, it was determined to be the worst terrorist attack in the U.S. since 9-11.

The Inland Regional Center Memorial Ride will be 14 miles which is equal to 22 kilometers; 1 mile for each victim who died (14) and 1 kilometer for each victim wounded (22).

The purpose of this memorial bicycle ride is to not only remember the victims from that day, both killed and wounded, but to remind us of the importance to stay prepared, stay vigilant and stay fit. Thousands of law enforcement personnel, fire personnel, doctors, nurses, counselors and countless other professionals were directly touched by this horrific incident. Those professions impacted by the IRC incident are encouraged to use the ride as a networking opportunity.

Proceeds from this event will go to the United Way San Bernardino United Relief Fund set up for the IRC victims. The event will be open to everyone who wishes to support the victims and their families. All first responders can ride for free. Tickets are highly encouraged as is pre-registration to ensure there is adequate staffing and gifts for participants. If you cannot attend but wish to donate to the cause, you may do so by credit card under the tickets tab or contact us for check donations. If you or your company would like to be a sponsor for this event, please contact us by email.

The 14 mile ride is a fairly flat course which traverses past numerous law enforcement agencies who were directly involved in the response, through the scene of the officer involved shootout and ends next to the Inland Regional Center. Police will assist with conducting traffic control for the GROUP ride. Additionally, chase cars from Don’s Bicycles will follow for breakdowns and repairs. Due to the nature of the ride, the exact route will be provided on the day of the ride. The ride will start to the front of the San Bernardino Police Department. For those of you who want a more challenging ride for the day, the Santa Ana River Trail starts one block from the end of this course. That trail runs an additional 38 miles, 19 miles each way.

Stay prepared, stay vigilant, stay fit and stay #SBSTRONG.

Special thanks to the San Bernardino Police Officers Association and Don’s Bicycles for their support of this ride.
