San Bernardino, Calif. – On March 13, 2011, the National Orange Show (www.nosevents.com)will partner with an official local division of the Miss America Organization to select Miss National Orange Show for the 2011 year.

The chosen Miss National Orange Show will reign over The Festival at the National Orange Show later this year in May, as well as participate in various events with the National Orange Show organization, which is celebrating 100 years in 2011. 2010 Miss National Orange Show, Crystal Munoz, will relinquish her crown during the event.

The 2011 competition will mark the fourth year the pageant has taken place after over two decades inactivity. The first Miss National Orange Show was chosen in 1912, just one year after the first National Orange Show in San Bernardino. The pageant became one of the largest and most prestigious competitions in the Inland Empire in the 70s and 80s, noted for its tradition of swapping Citrus queens with the country of New Zealand for a few weeks each year.

“As we celebrate 100 years since the first National Orange Show we’re excited to select a queen to hold a title with so much history,” commented Derrick Vasquez, Director of Catering and Special Events at the National Orange Show Events Center, “these young ladies are fantastic representatives of the best our community has to offer.”
