Secretary Dayton to Provide Media Briefing Following Tour of San Bernardino County Emergency Operations Center and 2010 December Storms Impact Areas in Highland

Secretary Dayton will provide a media briefing following his tour of the San Bernardino Emergency Operations Center and various locations in Highland, CA impacted by the 2010 December Storms.

Participants will include representatives from the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, and Caltrans District 8.

Currently, joint Preliminary Damage Assessments for Public Assistance (PDA) are being conducted by Cal EMA and FEMA, and will conclude on January 7, 2011. Individual Assistance PDA’s with Cal EMA, FEMA and the Small Business Administration are being conducted and will conclude on Thursday, January 6, 2010.

On December 21, 2010, Governor Schwarzenegger proclaimed a state of emergency in San Bernardino County, as well as Kern, Orange, Riverside, San Luis Obispo and Tulare Counties

On December 29, 2010, Acting Governor Abel Maldonado sent a letter to President Obama requesting the declaration of a major disaster.
