Single Father Receives Thanksgiving Blessing!

LaDon Roberson has faced many challenges as a single father caring for his two children, ages 10 and 8, but thanks to the generosity of some local businesses, those challenges will be lessened. Just in time for Thanksgiving, LaDon will receive a gift of a car complete with one year of insurance, paid DMV fees, and a trunk load of groceries.

LaDon received custody of his two children after the children were physically and emotionally abused by their mother’s boyfriend. After living in a homeless shelter during the past year, LaDon has been able to find employment and move his family into a low income apartment in Riverside. However, LaDon has to walk and take buses to take his children to school, childcare and to his job in Colton. This has been especially difficult because LaDon works evenings and his only family support is his mother who is in poor health.

This Thanksgiving blessing is made possible by Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop and their partners AAA of Southern California, Enterprise Rent A Car, Martin Auto Color, PD Wholesale, Community Connect, and Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey. This is the 5th year of this annual event.

The car will be given in a presentation set for Thursday, November 21st at 11:00 AM at Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop located at 12295 Magnolia Avenue in Riverside. Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey will assist in presenting at the ceremony. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and share in the spirit of giving.
